We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Team Leader Kununurra Leisure Centre to join our Planning and Community Development team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the day-to-day operations of the Kununurra Leisure Centre, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality aquatic and recreation services for our community.
Reporting to the Recreation Facilities Manager, you will lead a team of Recreation Attendants, Aquatic Recreation Officers and Lifeguards, while overseeing facility operations, staff development, maintenance programs, water quality management and customer service delivery. You will play a key role in creating a welcoming, safe and engaging environment that encourages community participation in sport, recreation and aquatic activities.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Leading and supervising Leisure Centre staff to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all aquatic and recreation facilities;
• Coordinating maintenance activities and ensuring facilities, plant and equipment are maintained to a high standard;
• Monitoring pool water quality and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards and health requirements;
• Managing staff rosters, training, inductions and ongoing professional development;
• Assisting with recruitment, performance management and team development initiatives;
• Supporting the preparation of reports, budgets, operational plans and business planning activities;
• Developing and coordinating aquatic and recreation programs that increase community participation and attendance;
• Ensuring accurate financial administration, bookings and receipting processes;
• Promoting excellent customer service and building positive relationships with community groups, sporting organisations and stakeholders;
• Assisting with the development and review of operational policies, procedures and safety systems;
• Performing reception, lifeguard and operational duties as required; and
• Maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment for all patrons and staff.
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in the operation of aquatic and recreation facilities, strong leadership and people management skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. You will possess excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills, together with experience in pool plant operations, water treatment systems and facility management.
Essential qualifications include current Senior First Aid and Pool Lifeguard qualifications, Aquatic Technical Operators certification (or equivalent), a current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain), and a Leisure Institute of WA Aquatics (LIWA) Accreditation or willingness to obtain. Experience in local government and recreation management software systems will be highly regarded.
