Royal Life Saving WA is seeking a Swimming Instructor to deliver high-quality swimming and water safety lessons for the Dianella Secondary College In-term program. This program supports children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds by providing a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for them to learn essential aquatic skills.
The ideal candidate will be respectful, culturally aware, and confident teaching adults with varying levels of swimming experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, structured swimming and water safety lessons tailored to adult learners, especially beginners.
- Create a culturally safe, supportive, and encouraging learning environment for participants.
- Model and promote safe aquatic practices in all aspects of teaching.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with participants from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Assess participant progress and adjust instruction to meet individual needs.
- Collaborate with the program supervisor and Access & Equity team where needed.
Requirements
- Current RLSSWA or AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualification (or equivalent).
- Current Working With Children Check.
- Current CPR qualification.
- Strong communication skills, patience, and a supportive teaching style.
Desirable
- Experience teaching adult learners or beginner swimmers.
- Cultural awareness or prior work with CALD communities.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining program standards.
